Despite the fact that Monday’s agenda for the meeting of the Cherokee County Commission was one of the longest in quite some time the Commission made quick work of the items on the list…announcing that the appointment/reappointment for two expiring four year terms of the Cherokee County Communications District Board of Directors (for the E-9-1-1 Board) would be announced during the February 23rd meeting; resumes will be accepted through February 18th.

The appointment to the Cherokee County Water & Sewer Board will be announced during the March 9th meeting with resumes being accepted through March the 4th. Kay Chumbler was appointed to the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority as representative for District IV; Wayne Clanton was reappointed to the Northeast Alabama Water Board and Andy Lowe was appointed to the Cherokee County Human Resources Board.

Commission Chairman Kirk Day also announced that Dave Crum will be leaving the Parks & Recreation Department, effective February 27th (2015) and an appointment to fill the term will be made during the March 9th Commission meeting with resumes being taken through March 4th.

In other business, the Commission voted to lower the speed limit on County Road 104 from 45 to 25 mph – and Blue Cross/Blue Shield was approved as the health insurance provider for the term from March 1st, 2015 to January 1st, 2016.

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission – is set for Monday February 23rd at 5:00pm in the Cherokee County Administration Building in Centre.
