Area basketball teams see movement in latest ASWA rankings

Three area basketball teams saw their stocks improve in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings. The latest poll was released late Wednesday evening.

In Class 2A boys, Sand Rock (19-4) moved up two spots to No. 5, and Spring Garden (15-7) also climbed two spots to No. 8 this week. Class 3A Piedmont (10-6) held steady at No. 7.

In Class 3A girls, Collinsville (21-4) re-entered the top 10 at No. 7. Class 2A Spring Garden (22-2) holds steady at No. 2 and Class 4A Cherokee County (17-5) maintained its No. 10 ranking. Class 2A Sand Rock (14-10) continues to receive consideration.

This week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association high school basketball rankings are listed below. Nominations are made by each area’s local sports writers.
