Arrest Made in Chattooga County Burned Vehicle Case

A 34 year old Summerville man has now been arrested in connection with the discovery of an SUV that was found burned over the weekend in northwest Georgia.

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the vehicle discovered in a remote area of the county on Sunday morning.  On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office released a report about that incident, stating they had received reports from motorists seeing heavy smoke about a mile off of Narrows Road, near U.S. Forestry Road 252 in the Subligna area.

A responding deputy reported finding a badly-burned vehicle, which he described as a four door Chevrolet SUV; however he was unable to determine a VIN number or locate a tag.  Investigators believed from the start that the vehicle was intentionally burned.

Joshua Daniel Ward was arrested shortly after noon on Monday, and charged with Arson in connection with the incident. He is currently being held in the Chattooga County Jail on bond of $10,000.

No additional information is being released at this time.
