There was one change among the leaders in the weekly ASWA high school football poll. 

In Class 5A, McAdory was replaced by defending state champion Spanish Fort.   McAdory’s fall came after suffering a 22 to 14 loss to Center Point last Friday. 

There were no other changes at the top of the polls where Hoover retained the top spot in Class 6A with a 17-7 victory over No. 5 Vestavia Hills. 

In Class 4A, No. 1 Calera cruised past Shelby County 42-27. 

Madison Academy solidified their hold as 3A, No. 1, with a convincing 28 to 10 win over former 5A, No. 10 Cullman.  Class 3A, No. 2 Piedmont derailed former No. 4 Leeds 26-10. 

Washington County was the sports writers top choice in Class 2A, and Pickens County continues as the best in Class 1A.

In games being played this Friday night Cedar Bluff will travel to Collinsville for a pivotal Class 1A, Region 7 showdown. 

Spring Garden looks to balance their record at 3 and 3, as they travel to meet winless Woodville, and the Gaylesville Trojans are seeking their fourth win of the year as they travel to Jacksonville Christian. 

In Class 2A, Region 7 Sand Rock hosts Fyffe.  Both teams sport identical 4-1 records.  Gaston is looking for their fourth win when they host Westbrook Christian.  

At the Field of Champions in Piedmont the unbeaten Bulldogs are looking to extend their regular season unbeaten streak to 29 when they play White Plains. 

Class 4A, Cherokee County can work their way into the Region 5 playoff picture with a victory at Lincoln. 

Class 5A, Region 7 play finds Boaz at Fort Payne, Arab is at region co-leader Southside/ Gadsden while the other co-leader, Etowah goes to Scottsboro. 

Class 6A features Pell City at Gadsden City.
