One Taken for Treatment Following Watson’s Crossroads Wreck / UPDATED

One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at Watson’s Crossroads around noon Friday.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report has now been released showing the driver of the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer was Destiny Marie Lowe, of Summerville, Georgia, and the driver of the 2003 Dodge Ram – which was a company vehicle for P&B Trucking located in Rockmart, Georgia – was Jerry Kerkland, a resident of Dallas, Georgia.

The vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 35 and County Road 41 with the Dodge sustaining damage on both sides – after the trailer the truck was towing swung around and collided with the vehicle.  The Chevy sustained damage to the right-hand side – both to the front bumper and the rear of the vehicle.   It ended up going into the grass in front of the Dollar General parking lot.

Kerkland was reportedly transported by Floyd EMS to a local medical center for treatment, while Lowe was checked out at the scene and released.

The Broomtown Fire Department and Rescue Squad also responded to the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
