A 32 year old Etowah County woman has been placed under arrest and charged with felony Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
Miranda Lynn Merry of Attalla was initially booked on a warrant for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, when she told detention center personnel that she was pregnant; she tested positive for opiates, amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Merry reportedly admitted to the illegal use of heroin and opiates – however she stated that since she found out she was pregnant, she had only used methamphetamine.
She is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a cash bond of $10,000.
As a condition of release she shall be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must successfully complete a treatment program.
