August Marks Third Anniversary of Officer Justin Sollohub’s Death

Sollohub 1It’s been just over three years since Anniston Police Officer Justin Sollohub was killed while on duty – August 24th, 2011 was the day Sollohub was shot by Joshua Russell during a foot chase.

Sollohub, just 27, lived until the following day for organ donation.

Family members told the Anniston Star Monday that organ donation needs to be important to everybody.

Joshua Russell was later convicted of capital murder and sentenced to the death penalty by a Calhoun County Judge.

A memorial to Sollohub has been erected at the Centennial Memorial Park in Anniston; it’s the veteran’s memorial for the state and in the future there will also be a memorial to other members of law enforcement who died in the line of duty.
