Authorities Release Name of Victim in Fatal Auto Accident

Authorities have released the name of the woman killed in a crash occurring Monday morning in Pinson.  On Tuesday, the Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 32 year old Brittany Nishae Williams.

Jefferson County deputies responded to the scene on Highway 79, at around 9:30 that morning.  According to reports Williams, driving a Buick LaCrosse, was attempting to turn left onto 79 from Pawnee Road when she was hit by a Dodge Challenger that was traveling southbound on 79.

She was pronounced dead at the scene – meanwhile three children which were in the vehicle with her, were transported to Children’s Hospital of Alabama for treatment – at this point, no additional information regarding their condition has been released.

Both the driver and a passenger in the Dodge, fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a small child who was also taken to Children’s Hospital.

Two additional vehicles were involved as they attempted to avoid the collision, with  two other people receiving treatment from medics on the scene; authorities have yet to say if those who fled the scene have been identified and located.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
