Auto Accident Sends One to the Hospital Monday Afternoon

Rome Wreck 101A man was transported to the hospital following a wreck east of the boat ramp on Highway 140 Monday.

According to Sergeant Chase Burns of the Floyd County Police Department a Jeep Cherokee driven by Ralph Cook (believed to be in his early 20’s from Trion) was traveling westbound near Davis Loop Road and lost control of his vehicle, which veered into the ditch.

The vehicle spun around before coming to rest.

As a passenger from the vehicle got out to survey the damage, a second Jeep Cherokee did almost the exact same thing, and came to rest up against the first vehicle.

The driver of the second Jeep wasn’t hurt; she was identified as Cindy Atkins of Adairsville.

Cook was conscious and complaining of neck pain; he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The wreck, which occurred at around 3:15pm slowed traffic in both directions on Highway 140 for about an hour.
