An 18 wheeler managed to shutdown a large portion of downtown Ft Payne Sunday night after striking a utility pole near the City Park.
The rig snagged the pole around 8:00pm at the intersection of 4th Street and Gault Avenue North, leading to the area being closed off until repairs could be made to those lines and the pole replaced. The section of roadway stretching from 3rd Street to 8th Street was closed for an extended period of time.
Neither the driver of the truck or anyone else was hurt in the mishap.
