Billy Lamar “Poss” Hopper, Age 78 of Centre, formerly of Rome, GA, passed away Friday November 27th in Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, November 30th at the Perry Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Chip Smith and Rev. Wayne Day officiating; burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Al Young, Casey Young, David Puckett, Larry “Frog” West, Glenn Ferguson, Bobby Allred, Bobby Haislip, Johnny Puckett. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Breakfast Bunch & Campground Friends.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Judy Young Hopper; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh & Jeffery Duck of Rome, GA; sister, Jo Todd; sister-in-law, Carol Y. Singleton; brother-in-law, Ernest “Joe” (Barbara) Young; chosen brother, Glenn (Pamela) Ferguson; several nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, James “Jimbo” Hopper; sister-in-law, Edna Earl Hopper and brother-in-law, Robert L. Todd.
Mr. Hopper was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Clarence and Gladys Jones Abernathy Hopper, he was a retired sales rep in the Transportation Industry, he managed Young’s Campground and was of the Baptist Faith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Centre Baptist Church.
