Birmingham Firefighter With Cherokee County Ties Laid To Rest On Wednesday

A Birmingham area Firefighter with Cherokee County ties was laid to rest on Wednesday.

Kimberly Ann Cantrell of Forestdale passed away on Thursday, March 28. Cantrell’s son Chris served as a Gaylesville Firefighter and also works for Jacksonville Fire & Rescue as a Firefighter/EMT.

Other survivors include her Husband, Chris Cantrell of Forestdale; Daughter, Brittany Storey of Hokes Bluff; Daughter-in-law, Hayden of Centre; Step Daughter, Nicole Cantrell of Concord; two Grandchildren, Alexis Warren and Brynlee Bolton of Hokes Bluff; Step Dad, Kenny Shaw of Centre; Father, Jim Shepard of Anniston and Brother, James “Bubba” Shepard of Anniston. 

Kim was a Firefighter with the Brookside Fire Department in Birmingham for a year and a half, served as a Captain for Central Alabama Search and Rescue for two and a half years and carried numerous certifications related to the fire/rescue service.

Burial services were held at the Cherokee Memorial Gardens in Centre.
