The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report regarding a fatal accident occurring in Marshall County has now been released.

According to information in an ALEA news release – a two-vehicle accident taking place last Friday, December 11th, claimed the life of a Boaz woman around 5:30 that afternoon, when the 2005 Nissan Altima that she was driving collided with a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia that was being operated by Barry Jerome Smart, age 63 of Albertville. Smart reportedly lost control of the rig due to a weight shift; he then crossed the centerline and collided with the Nissan, being driven by 23 year old Morgan Haley Powell.  Powell was pronounced dead at the scene, while Smart was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The crash occurred on Hustleville Road near Alabama Highway 75, some five miles north of Albertville.

That wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
