Body Recovered From Big Wills Creek Thursday Morning

The body of a man was recovered from Big Wills Creek Thursday morning.

Emergency personnel had been searching for the man since last Sunday, when three people had gone fishing along the bank around 9:00am.  The woman in that group jumped into the water above a low head dam, where the water carried her over the dam, then downstream.  One of the men jumped in, in an attempt to rescue her but failed to resurface; the remaining man told authorities he threw out a line – but when that didn’t work, he ran to get help.

The incident took place off Brooke Avenue in Gadsden.

The body of 39 year old Betty Ann Moon was recovered about two hours later; however the search for the missing man had been unsuccessful until Thursday morning.

The name of the victim has yet to be released.
