Bond Set for Those Accused in Cloudland Marijuana Growing Operation

Bond has now been set for five people arrested earlier in the week in connection with what turned out to be a large-scale indoor marijuana growing operation on Lookout Mountain.

The raid took place on Tuesday at a Valley View Lane, Cloudland address, where Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said that 1,028 marijuana plants growing in several different buildings on the property were seized during the operation.

Tracy Denice Johnson, the 51 year old owner of the property and William McKenzie, age 46, both Cloudland residents, had their bond set at $175,000 each.

Scottie Ray Hammitt, age 31 of Jasper, Georgia and 60 year old Chris Oglesby of Cedar Bluff, Alabama had their bond set at $125,000 each.

A fifth suspect 75 year old Tommy Lee Kiser of Chickamauga had a much lower bond which was set at $25,000.  The other four defendants say that Kiser was not part of that operation and was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

The Magistrate Judge told media outlets that Kiser has extensive medical issues, and that, in part, led to a lower bond being set.
