Boy Scout Troop 247 Conducting “Clean Sweep” Cleanup in Leesburg on Saturday

The Cherokee County Commission, Sheriff Jeff Shaver, and others, have been discussing the on-going litter problem in Cherokee County, and ways of maximizing cleanup efforts. and of course, reducing litter at the source by urging everyone to dispose of their trash properly.

As part of the cleanup campaign Boy Scout Troop 247 will be meeting on Saturday morning at Coosa Corner to conduct a “clean sweep” operation around Leesburg.

We recently spoke with Michele McPherson, who is working with Sheriff Shaver on ways to keep the county tidy, and she’s seeking volunteers to help in these efforts.  Contact her for obtaining litter grabbers, bags and safety vests through the County Sheriff’s Office, the Weiss Lake Improvement Association, and the Little River Waterkeepers organization.

Also learn how you can lend a helping hand at upcoming events.

Call Michele at (256) 996-2713 to find out more.
