The body of a 66 year old Cedar Bluff woman was recovered from Weiss Lake early Saturday morning after she was reported missing to authorities on Friday.

According to Cherokee County Corner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, the family of Carolyn May Schreiner reported her missing after she failed to return home from a doctor’s appointment.

According to Dr. Deaton during a search near her home on County Road 752 in Cedar Bluff by members of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and Sheriff’s Deputies, her vehicle was found in the lake near her driveway with her body still inside at around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Deaton said the incident appears to be a tragic accident and no foul play is suspected.
