EXCLUSIVE|Piedmont Police Chief Steven Tidwell Says Health & Personal Issues Lead To His Resignation

WEIS Radio News has learned that Piedmont Police Chief Steven Tidwell has resigned his position effective immediately.

In an email to WEIS Radio News from Tidwell he stated he tendered a notice of resignation effective two weeks from Friday citing recent health and personal issues leading to the decision.

Tidwell said he will now focus on his law practice and continue working and teaching in the field of emergency medicine.

Sergeant Freddie Norton has been named the acting Chief and Tidwell said he feels confident that he will keep the department moving forward.

Chief Tidwell wen onto say that “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Piedmont and I wish the department and the city nothing but the best as I pursue other opportunities”.
