WEIS Radio News has confirmed that the Kmart store in Centre will close to the public in early December, until then, the store will remain open for customers.
Howard Reifs Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Company said in an email said that the store will begin its liquidation sale on September 28.
Store closures are part of a series of actions being taken to reduce on-going expenses, adjust asset base, and accelerate the transformation of the company’s business model.
These actions will better enable the company to focus investments, serving it’s customers and members through integrated retail – at the store, online and in the home.
The store has 56 employees. Those associates that are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.
Most of the associates are part time/hourly.
Riefs said that the closure will also include the Little Caesar’s Pizza Restaurant located inside K-Mart.
