Phil Ellsworth / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — The Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers in their season-opening Super Bowl re-match on Thursday 21-20.
Speaking to ESPN, Broncos running back C.J. Anderson defended the critique of his team’s defense, saying he didn’t think they played dirty against Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton.
“I don’t believe they played dirty, I’ve never seen that,” he told ESPN.
The running back was also asked how the team’s offense has grown after Peyton Manning’s retirement.
“Compared to where we were last year and this year, tremendous growth in offense,” Anderson said.
Anderson said he was impressed with the new quarterback Trevor Siemian and how he handled difficulties on the field.
The team takes on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
