Burglar(s) Manage to Lose Sledgehammer During Summerville Pharmacy Break-in

Freds 2

When a burglar or burglars involved recently broke into a Fred’s Pharmacy in Summerville, all they managed to do was lose a good sledgehammer.  According to police reports, officers responded to the scene at 103 Highway 48 in Summerville at 3:39am on Wednesday where they discovered that the glass had been broken out of a rear door; the sledgehammer which had obviously been used to do the damage was still there, propped up against a wall.

Investigators said the person, or persons, responsible had broken through the drywall of an interior wall of the store and accessed the actual pharmacy area.

The safe containing the most potent drugs was flipped over, but was still intact and was not breached.  A store manager and a pharmacist arrived and following a brief inspection of the scene, said it appeared that nothing had been taken, either from the pharmacy or anywhere else in the store.

The incident remains under investigation.
