Burleson’s big night lifts Cedar Bluff past Coosa Christian, 35-7

GADSDEN – Cedar Bluff senior quarterback Jacob Burleson turned in another stellar performance on the football field at Class 1A, Region 7 rival Coosa Christian on Friday night.

Burleson ran for 235 yards on 21 carries and scored four touchdowns. He also connected on 6-of-13 pass attempts for 58 yards in the Tigers’ 35-7 victory.

Nick Clifton added 54 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown for the Tigers (6-3), who finished region play undefeated at 6-0.

Cedar Bluff also had five interceptions in the game, one each from Aden Green, Bucky Leek, Hunter Stallings, Kade Browning and Clifton.

The Tigers close out the regular season this Thursday at home against Cherokee County rival Sand Rock before hosting Woodland in the Class 1A state playoffs on Nov. 5.

Coosa Christian (4-5, 3-3) closes out its regular season at home on Friday against Whitesburg Christian.
