Burned Car Reported Stolen in Summerville, Recovered Here in Cherokee County

A burned car, stolen out of neighboring Chattooga County, Georgia – was found in Cherokee County earlier this week.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver informed WEIS Radio News that on Monday night Sergeant Jordan Kelley discovered the vehicle – which turned out to be a Dodge Magnum – on County Road 80 with the interior burned out.

Local Sheriff’s Office Investigators contacted the Summerville Police Department regarding the situation and officers there immediately went to the home of the owner, John Fain, Jr. of a Seventh Street address in Summerville.  Fain, who was asleep when police arrived, told them the vehicle was supposed to be parked in the yard with the key in it, and that someone had taken it without his permission.

The incident remains under investigation.
