Calhoun County Jail Corrections Officer Arrested

A corrections officer at the Calhoun County Jail is now behind bars, after being arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

According to information in a news release from Sheriff Matthew Wade, that incident began when an inmate was released from jail and transferred to another facility on March 1st, and when that inmate was “booked out” of jail, that correctional officer failed to give the inmate her money via the jail-issued debit card.

An investigation later revealed that the officer, Kenyatta Ervin, then took the card and used it in an ATM to withdraw $172 from that inmate’s account.

Ervin later admitted to details confirming the allegations; she has been a corrections officer since November 2013.

Ervin was taken into custody and is being held on bond of $2,500, with a court date of April 4th.
