Car Leaves Roadway and Crashes into Utility Pole Tuesday Morning in Floyd County

An accident in Floyd County knocked over a power pole Tuesday morning, sending it across a roadway in Lindale.

The wreck occurred around 10:00 near the intersection of Park Avenue and 2nd Street, and according to Floyd County Police the driver said that she fell asleep behind the wheel as she was heading home.  The vehicle, a 2019 Kia Sol was traveling south on Park Avenue when it left the west side of the road, struck three mailboxes and then crashed into the utility pole – which pulled power lines from three nearby homes.

The driver was transported to Floyd Medical Center for the treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries; she was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and Traveling too Fast for Conditions.
