Car Leaves Roadway and Strikes Tree Tuesday Morning on County Road 36 / UPDATED

One person appeared to suffer serious injuries when their car left the roadway and struck a tree around 11:15 on Tuesday morning at the top of the mountain in Sand Rock.  The wreck took place approximately three miles west of Highway 68 on County Road 36.

The female driver, identified on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report as a resident of Collinsville, was extricated from the 2008 Chevrolet by Cherokee County Rescue Squad personnel and several members of the Sand Rock Fire Department. 

Other agencies responding to that accident scene included the Leesburg Police Department, Floyd EMS and Alabama State Troopers.

The cause of that wreck remains under investigation by State Troopers.
