Case of Burglary and Arson at Convenience Store Located Near Alabama/Georgia Line

Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning burglary and arson at a convenience store near the Alabama/Georgia line. 

According to Floyd County Police, the motion detector at Rozy’s Food Mart on the Gadsden Highway went off at around 3:30am, and the store owner dialed 9-1-1. 

The suspects were seen on video surveillance taking items then starting several fires inside the building.  The store, as a result sustained heavy smoke damage.

Officers said less than $300 in merchandise was actually stolen.

WEIS Radio News spoke with the Atlanta Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms just prior to 12:00 noon, and a representative confirmed that agents with the ATF were on the scene that morning, assisting local authorities.
