Cave Spring Man Charged with Stealing from Business, Cave Spring Fire Department and Police Officer

A 33 year old Cave Spring resident has turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from International Paper, the Cave Spring Fire Department and Floyd County police officer Baker Harbin.

Reports state Justin Lamar Penny stole radios, chargers, fans, torches and other equipment valued at over $1,500 from International Paper, numerous radios valued at close to $6,000 from the Cave Spring Fire Department and a Ryobi saw from Harbin.

Penny reportedly pawned all the items at Cash America Pawn for over $6,800.

Police said all the thefts occurred over a period of time between October 2019, and October of this year (2020).

Penny stands charged with two counts felony theft by taking – misdemeanor theft by taking and felony theft by deception.
