Cedar Bluff basketball teams split with West End

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff basketball teams split with visiting West End on Thursday evening. The Lady Tigers earned a 49-33 victory while the Tiger boys dropped a 51-39 decision.

In the girls game, Maggie Clowdis collected 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Jordyn Walker connected on three 3-pointers and had 13 points. She also grabbed five boards. Russell Givens contributed nine points, five rebounds and three steals. ZaNiya Kyle finished with six points.

Madison Parker led West End with 13 points. Katie Parker sank three treys and had nine points. Grace Gilbreath finished with seven points.

Cedar Bluff trailed 11-7 at the end of the first quarter but forged ahead 20-16 at halftime. The Lady Tigers built a 34-25 advantage at the end of three quarters and closed out the game on a 15-8 run.

In the boys game, Anbre Leek connected on four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points, but they weren’t enough for the Tigers.

Bucky Leek added seven points for Cedar Bluff.

Isaiah Riberson led the Patriots with 17 points, including a pair of treys. Riberson scored 13 of his points in the fourth quarter. Thad Pearce contributed 11 points and Trevor Willity finished with seven points.

West End built a 15-6 first-quarter advantage and maintained a 27-18 lead at halftime. The Patriots led 35-27 at the end of three quarters.

Cedar Bluff is scheduled to play at Geraldine on Friday.
