The Cedar Bluff Town Council Tuesday night approved the budget for the Fiscal Year beginning October the 1st and running until September the 30th of next year.

The budget totals 1-million 71 thousand and 155 dollars and includes money for a 50 cent an hour pay raise for town employees and an additional full-time police officer.

In other action, the council approved the purchase of a new garbage truck at a cost of 185-thousand 570 dollars.

Mayor Martha Baker says after the first of the year the council may have to look at raising the garbage bills for residents by a couple of dollars to help pay for the truck.

Still, purchasing a new truck was still cheaper than it would be to outsource garbage pickup.

Baker says the town will make 36 monthly payments on the truck.

Also Tuesday, the council approved 26-hundred dollars for the installation of flooring at the Community Center along with a bid for just over 39-hundred dollars from Cherokee Glass for the replacement of three windows at Town Hall.

It was also announced that the town is receiving a 55-hundred dollar grant for the park from the Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council.

The council also approved two new firefighters, Robert Cotton and Austin Abernathy.
