Cedar Bluff K-9 Jagger Assists In The Arrest Of A Gadsden Man On Drug Charges During A Traffic Stop

A Gadsden man is behind bars on drug charges following a traffic stop by Cedar Bluff K-9 Officer Chris Vaughn on Forrest Street at the intersection of Alabama Highway 9 North.

At approximately 1:00 Friday morning, Officer Vaughn assisted by Deputy Tom Key conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 55 year old James Wesley Hughes.

Hughes denied officer’s consent to search and Cedar Bluff K-9 Jagger was used to conduct an open air sniff and indicated on the vehicle.

Officers recovered two of bags of meth, two bags of marijuana, and two glass smoking pipes along with other drug paraphernalia.

Hughes was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention on charges of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hughes is being in the jail on a bond of $3,100.

Leesburg Investigator Jamie Chapman, Deputy Jamie Parrish and Cedar Bluff Reserve Officer Levi Welsh also assisted with the stop.
