Cedar Bluff Man Arrested After Being Found Asleep in His Car in the Middle of the Road in Rome

A Cherokee County man was arrested in Floyd County Georgia, on Wednesday – after being caught napping in his vehicle in the middle of Sherwood Road at Shorter Avenue in Rome.  Carl James Hackett II age 28 from Cedar Bluff stands accused of operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine after he was found asleep behind the wheel as it straddled two lanes.

He was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with DUI, with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Related Objects and Criminal Trespass, in addition to Improper Lane Change and Improper Stopping.

According to reports, police also found a glass smoking device containing suspected meth.
