A Cedar Bluff man was arrested on a large list of charges after attempting to elude Cherokee County Deputies Wednesday night.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver 37 year old Jamey Lamar Helms was arrested around 9:00 p.m. after leading deputies on a chase.
Deputies spotted Helms and knew there were existing felony warrants for his arrest from DeKalb County.
Helms attempted to flee and ran his vehicle into a ditch at the intersection of Alabama Highway 273 and County Road 75 – he then attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.
Helm’s was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude, Deputies transported Helms to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he is being held on a $16,500.00 bond.
Upon his release, Helms will be extradited to DeKalb County to face charges of manufacturing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
