Cedar Bluff Mayor Tammy Crane Clarifies Decision To Cancel Medical Runs By The Fire Department

Cedar Bluff Mayor Tammy Crane released a statement on Tuesday afternoon saying that while the Fire Department will no longer respond to Medical Calls on a regular basis, that does not mean that the citizens will be left without the services of First Responders.

Mayor Crane said that she wanted to make sure that everyone was accurately informed and understood that there will be times when an ambulance is not close by and certain situations will require a quicker response – she went onto say that during those times the Fire Department will be ready to answer those calls and any others that they are directly requested to assist with.

Tammy CraneDuring the Councils meeting on Monday, Councilman Dewayne Agan made the recommendation that the Cedar Bluff Fire Department no longer run Medical Calls unless assistance is requested directly from Cherokee EMS – Councilman Agan cited Liability reasons as the factor for making this decision –

Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Matthew Sprayberry agreed with the decision for his department not to run Medical Calls during the daytime while an ambulance crew is on duty, but had a difference in opinion about cutting Medical Runs at night –

Mayor Crane told WEIS Radio News in her statement that she assures the residents in her town will in no way be left without First Responders.
