Cedar Bluff School Placed On Lock-Down After Altercation Between Students Leads To Threats

CBSchool3Cedar Bluff School was evacuated just before 9:00am Thursday, following an alleged threat that had been possibly been issued by a student at the facility.

Law enforcement officials of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Cedar Bluff Police Officers made a thorough search of the school and issued an “all clear” a short time later.

Cedar Bluff Police released a statement saying that there was NO bomb threat and that no one called into the school and threatened any sort of terroristic act.

On Wednesday morning a verbal altercation took place between one student and 2 or 3 others during which one of the students yelled something at the other students that was a poor choice of words.

The incident carried over into Thursday morning, with the story changing to something that could be a cause for concern and when the situation made it to school faculty it had all the makings of a serious threat.

School administration properly treated the incident as a threat and followed procedures and the school was evacuated.

Parents were notified. And law enforcement called in. Cedar Bluff Police say that they understand the situation caused a lot of alarm but likewise want everyone to understand that all possible threatening incidents are taken seriously and with due caution.

The juvenile was taken into police custody, interviewed and then released to his parents.

The incident is still under investigation. But at this time, there is no evidence that an intentional threat was made towards the school.
