Cedar Bluff sweeps area basketball games with Gaylesville

CEDAR BLUFF – Bucky Leek netted 18 points in leading the Cedar Bluff Tigers to a 68-22 win over Gaylesville in Class 1A, Area 13 boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Elijah McFry added 13 points for the Tigers. Anbre Leek tossed in 10 points. Isaac Bishop collected six points and six rebounds. Jacob Burleson and Caleb Tucker both finished with six points. Burleson also had five boards and Tucker pulled down four rebounds.

Kyler Bradley topped the Trojans with seven points. Briley Mitchell finished with six points and eight rebounds.

Cedar Bluff jumped out to a 25-6 advantage and didn’t look back. The Tigers led 43-10 at halftime.

In girls action, Cedar Bluff went on an 18-2 run in the third quarter, helping the Lady Tigers claim a 39-25 victory.

Jordyn Walker sank three 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Maggie Clowdis collected 14 points and Za’niya Kyle finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

Shonda Epps led Gaylesville with eight points and eight boards. Paisley Bryson finished with six points.

The Lady Trojans held a 12-9 edge at halftime before Cedar Bluff blew the game open in the third quarter to take a 27-14 lead.

Cedar Bluff travels to Woodville on Thursday, while Gaylesville is at Coosa Christian.
