GAYLESVILLE – Cedar Bluff swept a Class 1A, Area 13 basketball doubleheader at Gaylesville on Tuesday evening. The Lady Tigers earned a 50-38 victory, while the Tiger boys claimed a 57-34 win in the nightcap.
In the girls game, Maggie Clowdis led the Lady Tigers (1-1, 1-0) with 19 points. Jordyn Walker sank a pair of 3-pointers and had 12 points. Russell Givens contributed eight points and Za’niya Kyle finished with six points.
Peyton Bright topped the Lady Trojans (0-3, 0-2) with 12 points, including two 3-pointers. Delaney Coker collected seven points. Paisley Bryson also connected on a pair of treys and had six points. Natalie Baty also finished with six points.
Cedar Bluff jumped out to a 9-1 first-quarter lead and held a 16-15 edge at halftime. The Lady Tigers maintained a 30-29 advantage after three quarters, then closed out the game on a 20-9 run.
In the boys game, Anbre Leek and Jacob Burleson topped the Tigers (1-1, 1-0) with 14 points apiece. Alexander Leek added 11 points. Connor Flynt connected on a pair of 3-pointers and had eight points. Dylan Kinard finished with six points.
Jacob Gordon led the Trojans (1-2, 0-2) with 12 points. Keylon Higgins contributed nine points. Kyler Bradley connected on a pair of treys and finished with six points.
Cedar Bluff led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter and built a 27-18 advantage at halftime. The Tigers took a 45-27 lead after three quarters.
Cedar Bluff hosts West End on Monday. Gaylesville travels to Gaston on Thursday.
