The Cedar Bluff Town Council met in a brief Special Called Meeting Friday at 11:00am, with only one item on the agenda – that being a Resolution Authorizing & Approving Execution of a Contract with Bancorp South Equipment Finance. The purchase of a new garbage truck was the reason for the contract, with the council voting unanimously to approve the measure.
Terms for that purchase included paying $90,000 down with the remainder – a total of $95,000 – being financed through the floating of a tax-free municipal bond.
The Council also voted to name one of the town’s current garbage trucks as “surplus” – with the proceeds from the sale of that vehicle, going toward helping to off-set the cost of the new truck – which is expected to arrive sometime next week (first week of March).
In other business – the council members approved a donation in the amount of $250 for the CED Mental Health Center for use in sponsoring an upcoming Students Against Destructive Decisions Conference in Cherokee County.
