Cedar Bluff Utility Board Settles Lawsuit With The Town Of Cedar Bluff Over Water Tower

IMG_1885-1The Cedar Bluff Utility Board met in regular session Tuesday afternoon. After approving the minutes, the treasurers report, and accepting the letter of resignation of the former chairman of the Board, Ken Blair, a lengthy discussion was held about the garbage billing services.

The Utility Board currently handles the billing for the Town on garbage services for a fee of 7 percent of the billing amount. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided for the utility board be able to keep a record of the garbage can numbers assigned to each customer.

The Board elected Cindy Early to serve as Chair person and Norman Burton to serve as vice-chair. In unfinished business the subject of the Utility Board’s lawsuit against the Town was briefly mentioned with the Chair stating the Board’s Attorney said there had been no action.

Board member Norman Burton asked for an executive session to discuss the good name and character of a person, the board approved the measure and went behind closed doors for the discussion. After the Board members returned from the executive session and resumed the meeting, Board member Pickelsimer made the following motion: The motion was approved by the Board with Norman Burton, Billie Burkhalter and Tammy Crane all abstaining.

Cedar Bluff Mayor and Board Member Tammy Crane told WEIS Radio News that she is thrilled that the two entities were able to come to an agreement for the betterment of the town and looks forward to the town and utility board working together in the future.
