Cedar Bluff volleyball team in quarantine due to COVID-19

Staff Reports

CEDAR BLUFF – Cedar Bluff School Principal Rusty Thrasher confirmed Wednesday the Lady Tiger volleyball team is in quarantine following two positive cases of COVID-19.

“We felt in the best interest for the safety of our program and following ADPH (Alabama Department of Public Health) and AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) guidelines that we quarantine for 14 days,” Thrasher said in a statement. “We will forfeit games or reschedule games if possible. Our athletic staff and players work very hard to try to maintain proper social distancing whenever possible and wear a mask according to set guidelines.”

Cedar Bluff announced on Tuesday it would shift to remote learning for the rest of this week due to an employee testing positive for the coronavirus.

The Lady Tigers have pulled out of Saturday’s Cherokee County Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Cherokee County High School. The tournament’s amended opening-round matchups are No. 2 Sand Rock taking on No. 3 Cherokee County at 9 a.m., and top-seeded Spring Garden against No. 4 Gaylesville at 10 a.m. The tournament is double elimination, with the championship game scheduled for 2 p.m. (if-necessary match at 3 p.m.).
