Cedar Bluff wins third straight area volleyball championship

CEDAR BLUFF — The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers won their third straight Class 1A, Area 13 volleyball championship Thursday with wins over Valley Head (25-8, 25-5, 25-7) and Coosa Christian (25-23, 25-13, 25-18).

The wins secured a spot in the North Super Regional in Huntsville, where the Lady Tigers will take on Holy Spirit at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Von Braun Center.

In the win over Valley Head, Jordan Walker posted 10 aces and a dig. Maggie Clowdis contributed five kills and an ace. Rylie Walker delivered 16 assists and 10 aces. Natalie Baty came away with four aces. Graceland Benton collected three kills and two aces. Ciana Smith managed five aces and a kill. Blakelea Hall added three aces, a kill and a dig. Anslee Evans had three kills and a dig.

Mattie Payne posted a kill and an ace. Kindal Grace had a kill and a dig. Emma Haney, Lacie Roer and Caley Bruce each had a kill. Haley Allen finished with an ace.

In the championship match against Coosa Christian, which eliminated Gaylesville in the other tournament semifinal, Jordyn Walker delivered 15 digs, three kills and three aces. Clowdis collected 17 kills, five digs and an ace. Rylie Walker came away with 31 assists, three digs, a kill and an ace.

Haney had 13 kills and three digs. Allen added eight digs and a kill. Payne managed 12 digs and a pair of aces. Roer finished with three kills. Grace contributed four kills and four digs. Baty finished with an assist, a dig and an ace.
