Cedar Bluff Woman Jailed in Rome for Felony Theft by Deception

A 34 year old Cedar Bluff woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on a felony charge of Theft by Deception. According to the arrest warrant Tessa Faye Steele of a County Road 44 address went to purchase a 1994 Honda Accord from an individual on Wade Street in Rome for $2,000.

She signed a bill of sale and the title to the vehicle, but according to police, had no intention of paying. The warrant further states that Steele had contacted the victim via text messages, acknowledging she was not going to pay for the car.

She then allegedly attempted to sell the vehicle to another person for $500.
