Cedar Bluff’s Patterson delivers game-winning hit against Hokes Bluff

CEDAR BLUFF – Reece Patterson delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 7-6 softball win over visiting Hokes Bluff on Wednesday. It was Patterson’s lone hit of the game.

Haley Allen led the Lady Tigers at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Caitlin Slayton added a hit and a RBI. Mattie Payne contributed a hit and a run. Jordyn Walker had a hit. Harlie Nelson and Mary Sausville both walked and scored a run.

Walker tossed seven innings and gave up three earned runs off six hits in the circle. She finished with nine strikeouts.

Hokes Bluff took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Cedar Bluff rallied for six runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Eagles tied things at 6 with a run in the third and two more in the fifth, setting the stage for Patterson’s game-winning hit in the seventh.
