Cedartown Murder Suspect Captured

Dominguez

The search is over and the man who allegedly gunned down his roommate in Sandy Springs last Monday is now in the custody of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Chief Deputy Jonathan Blackmon, 29-year-old Juan Dominguez was located in an abandoned car behind the same home where it was believed he originally arrived and changed clothes before the manhunt began early Wednesday.

Blackmon said that the occupants of the home told authorities that they did not know he was there.

Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Cedartown Police Department’s K-9 Unite and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials visited the home at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, where Dominguez was located.

Dominguez had been at large ever since Monday, June 22 when he allegedly shot and killed his roommate in the head and then fled the area.

Evidence then led investigators to believe he had come to Cedartown to seek out family members.

A Cedartown Police officer spotted Dominguez on Wednesday, June 24 in the morning after a BOLO was issued.

A massive multi-agency manhunt ensued, including the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Georgia State Patrol, Polk County Police, Cedartown Police and the Rome Police K-9 unit.

Dominguez is currently being processed at the Polk County Jail and is expected to be turned over to I.C.E. officials later.
