The Students Against Destructive Decisions Conference will return to Cherokee County again this year.

The event is scheduled for March the 7th at the Gadsden State Cherokee Arena.

Last year, the conference was attended by 7th and 8th Graders in the Cherokee County School System.

This year, it is geared toward 10th and 11th Graders, according to Nancy Steed with CED Mental Health.

The guest speakers will be former Alabama football player Siran Stacy and former Alabama and Cherokee County High football player Martin Houston.

Steed, who recently asked the Centre City Council for a financial donation for the conference, added that there will be some returning guests as well.

Steed says it’s her goal for local students to be able to attend the conference at no charge.

The Centre City Council voted unanimously to contribute 1-thousand dollars for the SADD Conference.
