The Centre City Council has given the police department the go ahead to apply for a grant through the Bullet Proof Partnership Program to purchase two vests for Officer’s Tom Duke and Seth Rochester in the amount of $1,398 – with the city receiving fifty percent of that amount back as part of the program.
In light of recent situations across the country involving police officers, the city is also looking into purchasing new, up-to-date body cameras for every officer – that issue was tabled until the next meeting in order to give the police department adequate time to put together a quote to present to each council member.
Mr. Forrest Frost addressed the council to present them with a Draft Audit for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 and voted to pay the fees associated with the Audit in the amount of $14,900.
In other business – the city has discussed several ways in order to help city employee’s deal with the sharp rise in Health Insurance as a result of the Presidents Affordable Health Care Act, during the meeting Mayor Tony Wilkie explained what the city has done.
In order to give each tier some relief – the city has split the $1,100 between the three categories. The measure passed with a unanimous vote.
