Building Inspector Raymond Matthews reported a total of 11 Commercial Building Permits issued totaling $1,963,117.00, 7 Residential Building Permits issued for a total of $1,394,270.00 and one Demolition Permit issued to DeKalb-Cherokee Gas in the amount of $25 for the demolition of the former Centre Motel.
Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship reported of 214 Incident/Offense reports and 93 arrests for the quarter. His department responded to a total of 30 traffic accidents including two fatal accidents at the intersection at Wal-Mart, there was a total of 150 Uniform Traffic Citations issued along with 311 Warnings for various offenses.
Fire Department Chief Robbie Moon says his department responded to a total of40 calls for the quarter, those included 12 structure fires, 1 grass fire, 2 vehicle fires, 17 vehicle accidents, 1 alarm and 7 miscellaneous calls.
Reports were also presented by Streets and Sanitation Supervisor Bobby Paul and Parks and Recreation Director Charles Glazner.
The council also approved the repair of a sewer problem inside city hall. The council adjourned into an Executive Session to discuss the ‘Good Name and Character’ of an individual with no action being taken on the matter.
