Centre Express Mart on West Main Street Open Under New Local Ownership / Grand Opening

As new owner Jay Howell says “It’s kinda like Cheers – it’s the place where everyone knows your name”; Jay, along with Tim Colbert and Rodney Van Pelt are new owners of the Centre Express Mart at 902 West Main Street just down from the Post Office.

They actually bought the business back on April the 6th – with the official Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony taking place Friday (June 22nd), and over the course of those few weeks they’ve made major improvements to the building beginning with cleaning from top to bottom and the installation of new flooring, and renovations such as new lights, new paint, new racks and shelving and several new products including boiled peanuts, hot dogs and nachos.

Frankie Kelley will also be cooking on-site with his food truck from time-to-time.  Watch for other new additions coming soon.

During our conversation following Friday’s Ribbon Cutting Jay pointed out that he, Tim and Rodney were all born and raised right here in Cherokee County – he stressed that their goal is to make the Centre Express Mart a community gathering place just like in the old days – a place where you see your friends every time you stop in.  A place that’s convenient, clean, reasonably priced and friendly – in short, a place  where you’ll enjoy shopping.
