Centre Man Arrested and Charged with Arson in Connection with County Road 936 Fire

A 32 year old Cherokee County man has been arrested in connection with a case of arson.

Last Friday (November 9th), Spring Creek, Centre and Ellisville firefighters all responded to reports of a structure fire on County Road 936 just outside of Centre around 10:30am – and upon arrival, discovered smoke coming from the residence.

After extinguishing the blaze, alert firefighters called for investigators due to the suspicious nature of the fire.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Jordan Kelley and Brent Snead responded to the scene.

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the two determined that the fire had been intentionally set, and a suspect developed.  Centre resident Brandon Cole Morrison was interviewed and was subsequently arrested on charges of Arson 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree.

He was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center at around 3:00pm Friday where he remains with bond set at $16,000.
