Centre Man Arrested in Rome on Drug Charges

A Cherokee County man was recently arrested on drug charges in northwest Georgia.

Roscoe Lascott Covington, age 50 of Centre – was arrested in Rome, after being found with meth while riding his bicycle down Martha Berry Highway.

Reports said officers stopped Covington after spotting him driving on the wrong side of the road and without proper reflective equipment.  Officers then discovered he was a wanted fugitive in Alabama. While taking him into custody law enforcement reportedly discovered a meth pipe in his possession.

Covington stands charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, possession of marijuana, riding a bicycle on the roadway, equipment requirement violation, being a fugitive from justice, and probation violation.
