A Centre man has been arrested for violating Alabama’s Sex Offender Notification & Registration Act.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 54 year old Alford Eugene Henderson of Centre was arrested on Monday.
Convicted sex offenders are required by law to notify the Sheriff’s Office when they move, change addresses, or begin staying at another location.
Henderson was convicted in 1994 for first degree sexual abuse. During a routine check, Sheriff’s Office investigators learned Henderson was staying in Rome, Georgia, and not at the address reported on his sex offender registration card.
Henderson remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center where he awaits bond.
